Help Wanted

White Rose Farm seeks farm help for our 2010 season.

During my time at White Rose Farm, Sally instilled in me an awareness of the relationship that exists between soil and plant, animal, and health. But more than that, she led me to see the spirituality that unifies each of these elements. In a world filled with carelessness, Sally cultivates conscientiousness and community one seed at a time.

Shawn Connell, intern, summer 2009

We are seeking both experienced farm staff(apprenctices) and energetic new comers (interns), live-in as well as part-time help.  Live-in staff will live in the farmhouse and work approximately 40 hours/week with one day off every week. The farm will provide room, food from the garden and a modest stipend. The farm is located in a beautiful, rural setting about 60 miles from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Sally Voris, the owner of the farm, will supervise all staff. She has completed a year-long part-time course in biodynamics at the Pfeiffer Center in New York. She has farmed for five years and previously was a master gardener, a storyteller, writer and community organizer. Voris makes biodynamic principles accessible and understandable.

The farm anticipates that each staff member will take the primary responsibility for a different area, but all will work together to get the farm work done. These areas and duties are:

Garden:  Oversee and tend three acres of flowers, herbs, vegetables and cover crops.

Animals: Tend the free-range hogs and pastured poultry.

Markets: Plan, pack, deliver and sell farm produce for our CSA, farmer's markets

and farm stand.

Education:Assist in the development and presentation of educational programs,

seasonal events and full moon celebrations.

All interns will learn biodynamic gardening practices and principles, including making and spraying preparations, planting by the moon and integrating animals into farm management.

The farm also has space for two writer/artists who wants to work part-time and to connect with nature and with other people. Basic housing and food from the garden are provided. A small stipend or profit sharing is possible, depending on experience and responsibility. An ability to give oneself to work and to engage with others is essential.  Please e-mail sally@whiterosefarm.com or call 410-756-9303.
