Sally Voris, Gardener & writer; owner and manager

Sally first articulated her vision to run a holistic retreat center in graduate school in 1987. Twenty years later, she is pursuing her dream, after inheriting a quarter interest in a farm that her father bought in 1966. Writer, storyteller, community organizer and gardener, Sally helped organize Farm Heritage Days in Howard County, developed a nationally-recognized oral history project and initiated seasonal events and celebrations in the Patapsco Valley, south of Baltimore, Maryland.

Mark and Josh Gieron, neighbors

Mark has been dairy farming for over twenty years and raises heifers in the pasture next to the farmhouse.

Jim Small

Jim runs Small’s Apiaries in Taneytown. He harvests about 10,000 pounds of honey in a normal year from hives he keeps within a 20 mile radius of Taneytown. He keeps some of his hives at White Rose Farm.

Bill Prehn and Bruce Leatherwood

Bill and Bruce are experienced carpenters who take on construction projects large and small around the farm, from moving sheds to fine finish carpentry.

Lee Royer, farmer and mother

Lee raises free-range chickens at Wee Bigger Farm in Harney, Maryland. White Rose Farm sells her eggs, which are certified by the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
