ABOUT THE OWNER:
Sally Voris became a farmer in 2002 after her mother died. She has always had an intense interest in gardening and the natural world. She was a master gardener in Howard County for nearly ten years.
She worked with the Howard County Conservancy at Mt. Pleasant Farm to begin Farm Heritage Days in Howard County, including educational programs for second graders from the public schools.
Sally completed a year-long part-time training program at The Pfeiffer Center in New York in 2008 and has used biodynamic practices on the farm since 2004. She brings a unique blend of gardening, love of nature, energetic healing and storytelling together to tell stories about the land and how we can connect to it in new ways.
Sally talks to plants naturally—and wants to share some of the ways we can share authentic conversation with the natural world. She believes that as we build relationship with each other and the world around us, we create invisible threads that link us heart to heart—and each other and with the Earth and the universe.
Elena is now in her third year at White Rose Farm. She came as a tentative volunteer in 2008, managed the CSA production in 2009, and is now looking forward to helping on the web site and in the garden this year. A native of Russia, Elena is also known to the team as an excellent baker and jam and jelly maker.
In our 2009 season, our team included a farmer from South Africa, two students from Gettysburg College, Janet Streit, our business associate, JOsie Johnson, our farm apprentice, Sahwn Connell, our farm intern, Elena Lindsay (above) and occasional help.
